Motivation is a powerful word that many people tend to overlook. Often, people will only recognize its true meaning when their backs are pushed against the wall. What is motivation? It is the power within that will push you toward taking action to reach for your goals. It is driven by ambition and desire. Without these two, motivation will not exist.
Losing the Eye on the Prize
Every business has goals and objectives to achieve. It is only through collective effort from leaders and employees that goals can be reached. Everyone works hard every day, their motivation is to earn money and finish all the tasks given to them. However, many employees lose sight of the long term goals. They are too preoccupied with delivering daily results. This leads to gradual work burn out and that is something every business owner should avoid.
To keep employees going, they should always be motivated. It doesn’t have to be about money all the time, just a compliment for an employee’s effort will do. What is motivation in a company setting? It is about showing an employee that his or her work is valuable and appreciated. That small effort you put in motivating someone will reward you greatly.
Whether you own a small business or a large organization, you have to motivate your employees. Show them that you want to move forward together. What you should realize is that when an employee is motivated, he or she has more initiative, energy, courage, a positive attitude and the tenacity to follow the company’s goals.
If you think that your vision statement is just something to add to your company profile, you need to think again. Vision statements serve as a guide for everyone in the company. It gives employees a clear vision of what the company is trying to achieve. Add a clear understanding of the goals and a motivated employee, you will have a company moving together towards the same direction. You have everyone on the same boat and that is an extremely good position to be in.
Motivation is Everywhere
Growing up, there is plenty of motivation everywhere. It need not be an outright motivational message said by an important person in your life. Think back on everything you wanted to do. Whether it was learning to play the guitar, baking a cake, finishing college or going to the gym, you were motivated. Your motivation came from your inner drive, will and desire to accomplish something good for yourself.
The only thing different right now is that people are working for you. They are working towards the goal of your company. Keeping this in mind, you’ll realize how important it is to keep your employees motivated all the time.
Motivation is Success
On the contrary, the lack of motivation in the workplace will bring you the opposite results. Employees are not happy going to work. Their performances will be substandard. The progress will be slow. All because you didn’t do your part in keeping your employees motivated and driven. Therefore, motivation is key to reaching goals and business success.
